TORONTO - As Masai Ujiri and the Toronto Raptors wait out the Moratorium period -- which comes to an end at 12:00am ET Wednesday -- before theyre officially able to tinker with the roster, the teams front office and coaching staff continues to take shape. Nick Nurse became the first assistant to be named to Dwane Caseys revamped coaching staff in a press release issued by the team Tuesday afternoon. Nurse, 45, has spent the previous six years coaching in the NBA Development League most recently with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, winners of the 2012-13 D-League championship. Nurse, the recipient of the 2010-11 coach of the year award, is the first and only head coach to lead two different D-League teams to championship victories. Prior to his time in the D-League, he spent 11 years coaching in Europe. He owns a career professional coaching record of 459-220 during the regular season and 76-54 in the playoffs. Nurses primary responsibility, under the defensive minded head coach, will be overseeing an offence that has been subpar since Casey took over in 2011-12. Nurse is regarded as an up and coming offensive mind, capable of translating the success hes achieved in the Development League and overseas to the NBA. The Raptors averaged 97.2 points per game last season, 16th in the association, after ranking 28th in scoring the year prior. The rest of Caseys staff should be announced later this week and is not expected to include any of his assistants from last season. At least one assistant will be a former player. Former Raptor Popeye Jones is believed to be in the mix, according to Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun. Raptors Set for Summer League Nurse is expected to coach the Raptors in the Las Vegas Summer League, which begins later this week. The roster, headlined by sophomores Jonas Valanciunas, Terrence Ross and Quincy Acy will also include guards Julyan Stone -- who agreed to a two-year deal with the Raptors last week -- Toronto-native Devoe Joseph, brother of Cory and NBA journeyman Coby Karl, son of George. The squad will hold its first practice in Vegas on Wednesday and play its first game Saturday evening against the Miami Heat. Bargnani Trade To Be Made Official Signings and trades can be made official beginning at midnight Wednesday morning, when the salary cap is set for the upcoming campaign. The Andrea Bargnani deal, which was agreed to in principle early last week, will be approved by the league and officially announced on Wednesday. The maligned forward will be sent to the New York Knicks for a package that is expected to include sharpshooting forward Steve Novak, veteran centre Marcus Camby, a 2016-first round pick and at least one second-round pick. The deal was first reported on June 30, a day before the July Moratorium period began, but was not immediately approved by the NBA. Wednesdays reshaped agreement will likely include free agent guard-forward Quentin Richardson, who would have to be signed by New York before he can be included in the trade.Alvin Robertson Jersey . - Derek Wolfe says hes finally healthy after suffering a seizure in November that doctors now believe was related to the spinal cord injury he suffered in the preseason. Raptors Jerseys 2019 .S. -- Nikolaj Ehlers registered a hat trick for the third straight game and Jonathan Drouin had a goal and five assists as the Halifax Mooseheads hammered the host Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 10-1 on Tuesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.METAIRIE, La. -- The New Orleans Saints will turn to a committee approach this week at running back after starter Mark Ingram was benched for a costly fumble in Sundays 25-20 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.A source told ESPNs Britt McHenry that backup Tim Hightower has earned more carries for this upcoming Sundays game at the San Francisco 49ers after he ran for 102 yards on 26 carries in Ingrams place. But the source also said Ingram will bounce back and that the Saints will use a committee approach no matter which running back is the starter.Saints coach Sean Payton made similar comments in a Monday conference call, saying that Hightower could definitely get more carries but that Ingram has an obviously important role with our team and our offense. Each week, we look at the opponent, and well look at the game and how we want to distribute the touches, Payton said. You can get a rotation, and weve done that.Payton said he didnt initially intend to sit Ingram for the remainder of the game after Ingrams first-quarter fumble was returned 34 yards for a touchdown by Seahawks safety Earl Thomas. But I just felt the way Tim was running it, he was getting into a pretty good groove. And thats the way it unfolded, Payton said.Ball security was an even bigger emphasis than usual Sunday because of New Orleans game plan against Seattles imposing defense. Not only did the Saints preach that the Seahawks thrive on forcing turnovers -- they also wanted to use a ball-control offense to wear them down after Seattles defense was on the field for 95 snaps the week before in a 6-6 tie with the Arizona Cardinals. It worked. The Saints ran the ball a season-high 35 times while possessing the ball for 72 plays and more than 36 minutes.Ball security is such an important part of playing those guys, Payton reiterated on Monday. It didnt help Ingrams cause that he also lost a costly fumble in the fourth quarter of New Orleans 27-21 loss at the Kansas City Chiefs one week earlier. However, this is now the first time in Ingrams six-year career that he has lost two fumbles in the same season.Ingram has nnot been available for comment since Sundays game.ddddddddddddIngram had emerged as a trusted, valuable every-down back for the Saints over the past two years as a runner, receiver, pass protector and goal-line option. The Saints dont usually run the ball heavily, so Ingram doesnt have more than 77 rushing yards in any game this year. But he remains on pace for more than 1,100 yards from scrimmage for the third straight year.Listen, I love Mark Ingram, I love everything about him, Saints quarterback Drew Brees said after Sundays game. I know hes gonna bounce back. And Ive got so much trust and confidence in him, as does this entire offense. So I wouldnt look into that any further than right now.Hightower, meanwhile, has also earned the love from the Saints over the past two years after making a remarkable comeback. The 30-year-old spent more than three years without playing an NFL game because of a torn ACL and an ensuing infection. But last year, he gained 456 yards from scrimmage with four touchdowns over New Orleans final four games after Ingram went down with a shoulder injury. The Saints are now 4-1 with Hightower as their featured back. And the source told McHenry that the offensive line really likes him.Hes someone that I think has been a consistent performer for us since hes gotten healthy, Payton said of Hightower on Monday. It was good to see him go in there and play well. Both backs should be eager for the opportunity to run the ball Sunday at San Francisco. The 49ers have the worst rushing defense in the NFL this year, allowing 185 rushing yards per game.Im gonna prepare for [more carries]. Im gonna prepare for whatever they need me to do, Hightower said Monday. Im not anticipating anything. My mindset doesnt change. When I didnt get any carries, my mindset was Ive gotta come every day and prepare as if this team is gonna count on me in the fourth quarter. As if every single time I get the ball, its gonna be the biggest play of the game. ' ' '
